Meta can show a beautiful ROAS while Magento is quietly burning cash on COGS, free shipping and PayPal fees.
If Meta spend never enters the same daily P&L as Magento orders, you are judging acquisition with half the ledger.
What “connect Meta” should mean for Magento
For net profit analytics, Meta OAuth is mainly there to read ad account spend (and related insights) by day, then map that spend onto your Magento store calendar.
It is not there to redesign your creatives. It is not a replacement for Magento order truth.
Why Magento merchants still need Magento
Meta attributes to its own click world. Magento owns:
- Order totals and refunds
- Real COGS
- Shipping cost you actually pay (free shipping is not free)
- Payment fees
Until those meet Meta spend, ROAS can look fine while cash does not.
Permissions without mythology
Meta’s marketing permissions are easy to over-request. A Magento profit tool should ask for what it needs to read ads performance / spend, not to run your Business Manager.
If a consent screen feels broader than “pull spend into P&L,” read the vendor’s privacy policy and in-app copy the same way you would for Google’s scary adwords wording.
After connect: three checks
- Spend rows appear for recent days in store timezone
- Magento revenue for those days is also present (otherwise you are staring at ads alone)
- Attribution Purchases exist if you care about campaign POAS — otherwise fix the success-page Purchase first
POAS still beats Meta ROAS
Once Magento contribution and Meta spend share a day, you can talk POAS vs ROAS honestly. Meta ROAS remains a creative testing signal. Net profit after Magento costs decides whether to scale.
Verid’s path
Verid OAuth-connects Meta, syncs spend into the Magento P&L, and keeps optional CAPI/profit uploads behind explicit merchant toggles where applicable. Docs: /docs/ads. Demo: /demo.
If Meta is “winning” but Magento bank balance is not, the missing link is almost always spend + COGS in one timezone — not another Ads Manager column.
